Mechanical Setting Tool (VMSR)
Description
The Mechanical Setting Tool (VMST) is an advanced piece of equipment designed for the oil and gas industry, specifically for downhole operations. This versatile tool is engineered to mechanically set VMCR Sleeve-Valve Cement Retainers, offering high efficiency and reliability in well completion and workover operations.
The sleeve-valve on the cement retainer is in the open position while being run in the well. When the setting procedure is completed, the sleeve-valve may be closed by picking up two inches at the tools or opened by slacking off two inches. The snap-latch feature allows the sleeve-valve to be shifted open or closed while the tubing is still anchored to the retainer.
Another feature of the tool is for running the sleeve-valve either open or closed. Normally the valve is run open so the tubing may fill. However, for pressure testing the tubing, while running, the valve can be run closed. Cement Retainers can be set and pressure tested in a single trip.
Features
● Special designed bow springs provide positive control and allow each size Mechanical Setting Tool to cover a large casing weight range.
● The upper slips are held in a safe retracted position while running.
● Allows users to set, pressure test tubing, and squeeze in a single trip.
● Can quickly be configured to set VMCR Cement Retainers
● These tools can be used to run a number of competitive brand Baker-style cement retainers

Operation & Compatibility
Operation
The VMST is designed with the operator in mind, offering quick and easy configuration to meet diverse operational needs. Its user-friendly design allows for rapid adaptation to different cement retainer types and well conditions. Safety is paramount in the VMST's design, with upper slips held in a secure retracted position during running, minimizing the risk of unintended engagement.
Compatibility
Versatility is a key advantage of the Mechanical Setting Tool (VMST). While primarily designed for VMCR Cement Retainers, it's also compatible with several competitive brand Baker-style cement retainers. This cross-compatibility makes the VMST an excellent choice for operators working with diverse equipment inventories.
Design Advantages
The VMST features specially designed bow springs that provide positive control throughout the operation. These springs are engineered to cover a wide range of casing weights, making the tool adaptable to various well configurations without the need for frequent changeouts. This design element not only enhances the tool's versatility but also contributes to improved operational efficiency and reduced inventory requirements.
Application
① Cement Retainer Placement: The VMST is used to mechanically set cement retainers or bridge plugs in the wellbore. This is crucial for zonal isolation to ensure that different sections of the well do not interfere with each other during production or injection processes.
②Well Completion and Workover: During well completion or workover operations, the VMST can be used to set downhole tools that are necessary for the final production stages or to perform maintenance and repairs.
③Zonal Isolation: The Mechanical Setting Tool (VMST) plays a vital role in zonal isolation by setting bridge plugs or other mechanical barriers to seal off certain sections of the wellbore, allowing for selective production from specific intervals.
④Pressure Testing: After setting the cement retainer, the VMST can be used to perform pressure testing on the casing or tubing to ensure the integrity of the wellbore and the effectiveness of the cement job.
