Vigor Composite Cement Retainer is a scientifically designed, structurally mature downhole plugging tool with a compact outer diameter and large inner bore. It is suitable for vertical, highly deviated, or horizontal wells in both land and offshore drilling operations, facilitating cement squeezing or plugging agent injection to seal and repair casings.

Compared to other types of cement retainers, this model features a smaller diameter, enabling faster and simpler deployment. Its segmented composite slips, combined with an anti-premature-setting ring, ensure easy drillability. The composite tapered body, packing elements, and other components form a reliable sealing system between the casing and the sealing assembly.

    Description

    Vigor Composite Cement Retainer is a nonmetallic high-quality tool used primarily for cement squeezes. It has multiple uses, including primary and remedial cementing, well control, and temporary abandonment, thereby eliminating storage requirements if separate tools were required for each operation.

    The composite retainer exhibits dramatically decreased removal times compared to standard cast iron retainers, resulting in longer bit life and decreased casing wear due to removal. This is achieved by the nonmetallic composition of the retainer, which provides faster drillability without sacrificing performance. The high-tech materials that make up the components of the composite retainer resist corrosion, are lightweight, and ensure a longer life in high-temperature wells. No adhesives are used to connect its components during construction.

    The composite retainer easily converts to a bridge plug. The mating surfaces at the top and bottom of the plug rotationally lock drilled-out remnants, decreasing drillout time.

    Operation Method

    Vigor Composite Cement Retainer is run in conjunction with a setting tool and an insert pipe attached to the tool’s front end. The insert pipe’s inner bore is

    equipped with a sliding sleeve valve, which is opened or closed by applying pressure from the work string via a drop ball, allowing bidirectional pressure control.

    - Upon reaching the target depth, the squeeze path remains open for circulation.

    - Before setting, a ball is dropped onto the sliding sleeve seat to seal the passage.

    - When the applied pressure reaches a predetermined value, the retainer sets, and the sliding sleeve opens, initiating cement or plugging agent injection.

    - After injection, the insert pipe is retrieved, and its front-end sealing plug closes the lower passage, isolating the cement/plugging agent below the retainer from the pressure and well fluids above.
