VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool(VWST)
Description
VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) provide dynamic force which is used to set Bridge Plugs, Production Packer or Cement Retainers. The gradual burning of a high temperature power charge which produces high-pressure gas, creates the force to push an o-ring sealed bottom piston. The piston applies the necessary stroke and tension to set and release from the equipment.
- ·Pressure balanced top and bottom pistons, eliminates pre-setting of bridge plugs, retainers and packers
- ·Short, compact structure for easy running
- ·Easy maintenance, assembly, bleeding and disassembly
An electrically actuated high temperature rated igniter located at the upper end of the tool is ignited and produces a flash flame which, in turn, ignites the power charge that is located directly below the fuse. The power charge, which is constructed of carefully controlled combustible elements, begins a slow burn of approximately 30 seconds. The resultant gas derived from the burning charge gradually builds up to high pressure and is used to power the tool.
The pressurized gas is vented down the center of the top piston in top piston cylinder. The build up of pressure at this location drives the oil downward and push the bottom pistons and top sub, till the outside of the tool approaches full travel. This action sets the bridge plug and parts the release ring (or stud) of the plug allowing the setting tool to be removed from the well.

Features
The VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) is electrohydraulically actuated, eliminating the safety concerns of using explosive seating tools and avoiding the pressure limitations of hydraulically actuated tools.
Real-time setting indication:The operator can activate the VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) at setup depth and monitor the entire setup process in real time.
Low maintenance and ease of use:The tool is designed for low maintenance and ease of use, eliminating the need to open and reassemble the tool after each run.
Pressure balancing system:The pressure equalization system prevents pre-setting the device and reduces the risk of tool pre-setting due to high hydrostatic pressure.
High pressure rated tools:VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) provides high pressure rated tools for high pressure operating environments.
Multiple setting modules:Basic tool operation with optional setup modules to choose from for different setup force requirements.
High temperature and high pressure ratings:Tools are temperature and pressure rated for high temperature and high pressure well conditions.
Electronic wireline compatibility:The VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) is electronic wireline compatible and provides real-time downhole temperature and pressure feedback.
Suitable for a wide range of well conditions:The tool is suitable for both vertical and horizontal well applications and is less sensitive to downhole temperature variations.
Rapid redeployment:The VIGOR Wireline Setting Tool (VWST) can be quickly redeployed without reassembly, saving operating time.
Operational safety:Improved operational safety and efficiency.
Variety of specifications:The VWST VIGOR WIRELINE SETTING TOOL is available in a wide range of sizes to suit different downhole equipment and operational needs.
Working Principles
Signaling: A cable sends a signal from the wellhead to the seating tool downhole.
Ignition Mechanism: Cable operation triggers the ignition head inside the tool to ignite the gunpowder or propellant.
High Pressure Gas Generation: Burning of the gunpowder generates a high pressure gas that pushes a piston or ram inside the tool.
Transmission of Force: The high pressure gas pushes the downhole tool through the piston to the set position.
Downhole Tool Setting: The downhole tool is seated and thrown under the high pressure gas to fulfill its function.
Tool Release and Recovery: Once the downhole tool setup is complete, the cable seating tool can be released and recovered to the wellhead.
APPLICATIONS
Preparation
1. Check setting tool and all the parts are correct and in expiration date.
2. Measure the Igniter electric resistance (51Ω).
3. Wellbore hydrostatic column pressure should be less than 15,000psi(105Mpa).
4. Inject appropriate volume of oil according to the temp of wellbore.

Connection
1. Ensures proper installation of relief valve. Unscrew the relief valve and tight the valve seat anti clockwise, screw on the relief valve afterwards is necessary.
2. Install the power charge and igniter successively, fix the power charge with circlip.
3. Install the fuse in chamber, compress the fuse with chamber cap. Make sure O ring is installed between fuse and chamber, screw on igniter cap.
4. Measure electric resistance between upper and lower electrode pin with Ohmmeter(0Ω), electric resistance between electrode pin and outer skin is infinitely great.
5. Connect igniter with quick coupling, the distance between pin bottom and igniter bottom should be more than 60 mm.
6. Connect the bridge plug or permanent packer with setting tool by adapters.
7. Remove the plastic cap of power charge and grease the power charge, insert in power chamber of setting tool.
8. Disconnect igniter and quick coupling, screw chamber on igniter, then install on power chamber.
9. Measure electric resistance between igniter outer skin and wireline, 2.5—5Ωis the right value.
Run in Hole
Run the string in hole with speed less than 300 feet/min (91 m/min), slow down when approach liquid level. Lower the string several feet in estimate depth to check the depth and weight, then pull to the setting depth is recommend.
Setting
Run the string in hole with steady speed less than 91 m/min, pull the string and run in again when blocked. Lower the speed 50m from the estimated depth, depth correction and ignition. Standard ignition will cause slight vibration of wireline on surface, otherwise need the second ignition. Then pull the wireline and setting tool 10 min later.
Three pulses of vibration can be observed from wireline or weight indicator (setting, shearing and stop movement of piston).
One minute after the last vibration, lower the wireline and value of weight indicator decreased, make sure the bridge or packer is set.
Retrieve
Pull the wireline with speed less than 300 feet/min (91 m/min), lower the speed if any accident encountered.
