Vigor Electric Setting Tool (VEST)
Description
The VEST adopts a maintenance free, modularization, and environmentally friendly design. At the beginning of the design, it fully considers the working conditions and user operating habits in the field, meets user requirements for cost reduction and efficiency improvement, and provides customers with more environmentally friendly and convenient construction plans.
The VEST can not only be used to set bridge plugs or packers, but also to install other optional devices at the bottom of the tool to expand its application scenarios, such as turn on/off sleeves, casing punch, and drilling special downhole operations.
Product Structure
Vigor Electric Setting Tool (VEST) consists of three main components: Control Unit, Power Unit, and Heavy-duty Output Unit.

1. Control Unit
The control unit can achieve intelligent control of VEST, including communication, motor control, data storage and other functions. Currently, there are two different versions of the control unit, one version applies on wireline operation, another version applies on slickline operation.
2. Power Unit
The power unit is composed of components such as motors, gear box, thrust bearings, etc. It is the core module that converts electrical energy into high power output. The key to this unit is to improve the conversion efficiency of electrical and kinetic energy as much as possible while ensuring stable operation. This unit can achieve both forward and reverse motion.
3. Heavy-duty Output Unit
The bottom of the heavy-duty output unit is connected to the load, and the upper end is connected to the power module. It can effectively transfer the output force of the power unit to the load (bridge plug or packer, etc.), thereby achieving complete power output.
Structure And Working Principle
Non-explosive: By adopting electric drive, the explosive device drive mode is completely abandoned, avoiding many management and control links such as transportation, storage, and use of explosive devices, greatly improving the convenience and safety of operation in the field.
Maintenance free: Adopting a lifetime maintenance free design, the entire use process does not require maintenance, nor does it require rebuilding the setting tool. It greatly reduces the labor intensity of construction personnel and shortens the production preparation time of tools to less than 10 minutes.
Environmentally friendly:During use, no waste oil, exhaust gas or other substances that pollute the environment are generated, fully meeting the requirements of more environmentally friendly construction.
More convenient:At the beginning of the design, VEST fully considered the construction requirements of on-site conditions and construction convenience. Because we have adopted convenient construction design schemes such as "one click reset", "no need programming in the field", and "no need for surface pressure relief", we ensure construction safety while greatly improving the convenience of construction.
Digitization:During the construction process, VEST can display important parameters such as working current, voltage, tension, and stroke in real-time. Based on these parameters, engineers can accurately determine the status and characteristic data of loads (such as bridge plugs or packers), thereby achieving big data analysis and providing data support for continuous improvement of loads. Furthermore, based on these data, the self-diagnosis function of VEST can be achieved, which can provide a more accurate understanding of the tool's operational status.
Dual directional movement: VEST can achieve dual directional movement of pulling and pushing, which can meet certain special requirements for downhole operations.
Scalability: In addition to having good anti-shock performance and meeting the construction requirements of PNP operation, VEST can also be modular combined according to different construction requirements. Thus, achieving operations such as anchoring, casing punching, and turn on/off sleeves.
