Vigor Hydraulic Inside Thru‐tubing Cutter
Description
The 2‐blade or 3‐blade hydraulic inside tubing cutter is designed to go through small restrictions and cut larger I.D. tubing. The cutters are design to be used on coil tubing with mud motors,or on standard threaded pipe strings. The blades are activated by applying hydraulic pressure in the coiled tubing or threaded pipe string. This pressure moves an internal piston down the tool which extends the blades out for cutting. The blades are tipped with carbide inserts for reliable cuts. Once the pressure is relieved the blades can retract back inside the tool for easy removal from the hole.
The cutter requires approximately 150‐250 PSI differential pressure across the tool to open the blades. The tool is designed to allow fluid to flow over the blades to remove cuttings. Once cutting is complete and pump pressure is shut off, the blades can retract back into the body.
Technical Parameter
Vigor Hydraulic Inside Thru‐tubing Cutter is mainly composed of an upper joint, seals, cylinder, nozzle, nozzle seat, piston, spring, cutter / blade, cutter bearing block, pin, lower joint, etc. As shown below.

About VIGOR
When the cutter is lowered to any desired cutting position, start the pump circulation and gradually increase the displacement.
Due to the flow limiting effect of the nozzle, the upper part of the piston forms a high-pressure area, which will push the piston down, and the lower end of the piston simultaneously pushes the cutting head, and the head of the knife to the inner wall of the tubing.
With the pump pressure and displacement maintained, the cutter is driven by the rotation of the drill stick. When the cutting is completed, the pump is stopped, the pressure difference is eliminated, the reset spring makes the piston reset up, and drives the cutter head to reset. Lift up the drill and pull out the cut fish.
